Darren Manibog: Top Personal Injury Lawyer
Third-generation lawyer.
A third-generation lawyer, Darren Manibog began his career as a civil litigation attorney with the Los Angeles law firm of Allen, Matkins, Leck Gamble & Mallory, LLP, where he practicedcommercial real estate, corporate and business litigation. After five years with the firm, Mr. Manibog ventured out on his own and formed MANIBOG LAW PC, focusing primarily on catastrophic injury litigation. Since then, he has successfully handled thousands of major injury cases, including numerous civil trials, arbitrations, mediations and settlements.
Mr. Manibog was named a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers magazine from 2012 through 2018 as well as a “Top Attorney” by Pasadena Magazine by 2011 through 2014, and was elected to the elite Multi Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a nationwide organization awarded to less than 2% of lawyers across the nation. Both in 2010 and 2013, Mr. Manibog litigated cases which were recognized as “Top 50” cases in the entire state of California. In 2014, Mr. Manibog was honored by the Trial Lawyers Board of Regents with their annual “Litigator Award,” awarded to the top 1% of litigators in the country. In 2015, Mr. Manibog was honored by the National Trial Lawyers as a “Top 100 Trial Lawyer.”
Mr. Manibog’s recent successes include a confidential 2013 lawsuit involving a Filipina immigrant who was critically injured when rear-ended by a commercial bus. Despite significant damages issues involving pre-existing conditions and life expectancy, that case resolved for $4.9 million. He also was sole counsel on the 2010 case of Ahn v. City of Los Angeles, where he obtained $5.65 million for his client who was severely injured while riding his motorcycle when he encountered a large sinkhole on a city street. In that case, Mr. Manibog uncovered that the accident was caused by a Department of Water and Power water line running under the street which was improperly repaired, causing the line to rupture and cause the sinkhole to form in the days before the accident. Despite a vigorous defense by the city, Mr. Manibog prevailed and obtained one of the largest injury payouts ever by the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Other recent jury verdicts, arbitration awards and settlements include medical malpractice awards of $754,000, $385,000, $300,000 and $250,000; premises liability awards of $475,000, $240,000 and $210,000; vehicular negligence awards of $375,000, $220,000, $135,000 and $125,000; a sexual abuse settlement of $400,000, and a general negligence award of $235,000. Mr. Manibog’s work has also been recognized by the bench. In one 2012 case, the presiding judge made the following comments on the record about the result Mr. Manibog obtained in that case:
“I think this is an extraordinary,
wonderful settlement for the
plaintiff…. I don’t see verdicts like this
coming from my juries at all… This is
extraordinary… I don’t see things like
this too often… I must say that you have
done a wonderful Job.”
In a 2008 case, the judge presiding over a major injury case prosecuted by Mr. Manibog made the following comments in court about the results obtained by Mr. Manibog:
“I’d like to say that this is an
absolutely fantastic settlement… If I
had to pick a settlement this year, for
2008 that was right at the top end, it
would be this case… This is a terrific
resolution. I track all the jury verdicts
here. I know what goes on in terms of what
the jurors will do, and you knocked a
home run on this settlement.”
Mr. Manibog received double Bachelors of Arts degrees, magna cum laude, in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Southern California, where he was a member of the Student Senate. He received his law degree from the University of California Berkeley School of Law, where he was a founding member and editor of the Asian Law Journal as well as a member of the Moot Court Board and the highly regarded Civil Trial Advocacy Program.
Active in the community, Mr. Manibog was the 2003 president of the Philippine American Bar Association, and is also active in the Consumer Attorney Association of Los Angeles. He was a co-founder and member of the organizing committee for the First Annual California Filipino American Lawyers Conference, and also served on the board of directors of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association from 2005-2006.[/blank]
A TRUE TESTIMONIAL
Darren Manibog is very professional and goes the extra mile to make sure that positive his clients get positive outcomes. He is not that typical lawyer that directs eveything to go through his paralegal. He always makes himself available by phone and in person and returns phone calls. I had a very complicated case that didn’t have much hope but Darren made it happen. I definitely recommend him to my family and friends and will turn to him again if needed. I would also like to add that his paralegal Bianca is phenomenal also. Thanks again for all your support and help.
